Tamil Nadu bounced back from a shaky position to trounce Orissa by 56 runs on the last day of their two-day pre-quarterfinal match in the KSCA Invitation Cricket Tournament at Bangalore today.
Lousy batting led to the humiliating defeat as Orissa were skittled out for 124 while chasing a target of 181. Eight batsmen failed to reach the double figures, while five among them could not even open their account.
Resuming at the overnight score of 106 for four, Orissa lost the remaining six wickets for 18 runs. This was the second successive defeat for the Orissa side, which earlier lost to Railway Sports Promotion Board by six runs. The only consolation for Orissa was that the bowlers performed well.
Brief scores:
Tamil Nadu 180/10 in 50.2 overs (Arun Karthik 72: Paresh Patel 3/30, Bibhudutta Panda 3/35, Santosh Jena 3/50) beat Orissa 124/10 in 56.2 overs (Subit Biswal 44, Paresh Patel 38: Jesuraj 3/29, Prasanna 2/15, Ganapati 2/17, Kausik 2/31).
